I'm tremendously in agreement with what you have written concerning prayer. The prayer request I made today in church for pastors to get into diligent, secret prayer goes right along with your blog. How urgently it must be stressed that we pray. Now, I'm not talking about praying for just the healing of my brothers wounded pinkie. Healing, indeed, are valid prayer requests. We must, however, seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things will be added unto us. We must pray, "Thy Kingdom come, Lord."
First thing, then, is to pray the leadership of the Church in Connecticut get into the presence of the Lord so as to be transfigured with the glory of God. Pastors must be given to prayer and the ministry of the Word. I said, "Given to prayer." Whenever anyone leaves any pastor, teacher, prophet, apostle, worker of miracles, etc. they should say, "Oh did not our hearts burn within us as he walked along the way and opened the scriptures unto us?" That will only occur when each leader takes the prayer closet so seriously that nothing is desired above that time of prayer.
Next is to pray the entire church be consecrated unto God. To be consecrated, a Christian must make the conscious decision to become sanctified. Indeed, we are sanctified by the blood of Jesus. Experience shows us many have lived non sanctified lives though sanctified by the blood. Clearly, this should not be. True consecration will only exist in men (as species, not gender) given to prayer. Prayerlessness and consecration are not coexistent. Each member of the Church is to be consecrated and must be active in prayer.
This is the essence of revival and the only way to it.
It may be, the only way we stubborn men can be softened to walk in the Spirit as such is through brokenness. Perhaps that will be my next discussion.
