Yet in the New Testament, we learn a better way through Jesus' example. When he was obedient in baptism, even though He did not need to be cleansed, He was affirmed by God verbally and through the gift of the Holy Spirit. He submitted to God, humbly, even being baptized by a sinner! So our affirmation comes from submission, humility, obedience... Yes, it is so absolutely not the way of the world!!
