I cannot comment on the current situation in the Roman Catholic church, however, I can comment on how some people are likely feeling. Many years ago i was invovled in seeking to put right corruption in an Evangelical institution. During this period I was with a leader of a Christian Mission who lied to me. I asked him why he was lying to me, I said to him, both you and I know what you are saying is not true, but he just looked at me. That night that same man preached and gave what many thought was a very moving message, all I could think of was the lies he had told me earlier in the day. What I found was that more than the corruption that I had sought to correct, it was the behaviour of Christain leaders that troubled me; I could accept a few back eggs in the church, but the covering up by so many leaders left a lasting impression and it was many months or evern years before I could comforable listen to a sermon without thinking, 'is this man lying?' I am sure in the current situation in the Roman Catholic church there must be many who are having troubles in their faith. It is also important for those of us not in the Roman Catholic church not to be self righteous about it, there are many bad eggs in whatever denomination we happen to be in.
