Hell, according to Penn Jillette & John Piper

 Over the past two months, I preached through a series on the Christian view of Death and the Life after That.  One of the central aspects of that realm according to the Bible is the reality of judgment, that on that last day, Jesus will judge the world, and all that was not for His glory will be destroyed by fire, while all that was for His glory will be refined and survive into the new heavens and new earth.  And part of this judgment is the reality of Hell for those individuals who did not know the judge (see Matthew 7:23, among others).  With that in mind, I want to share two brief videos I came across recently.

Would Jesus send someone to Hell?

Last week I ended my post by promising to deal this week with how Jesus used Hell in his teaching.  I’m not sure what I was thinking.  I mean, what made me think I could possibly do justice to this massive and excruciatingly important/touchy/difficult subject in one blog post?  So, instead of attempting to write the next great book on Hell, I think that the best thing I can do today is to share some observations on Jesus’ use of Hell that you may not have considered.  I think these observations will help us as we continue to look at how evangelical Christians use manipulation and urgency in order to scare people into the kingdom of God and motivate believers to action.
