God is creator and Lord, adonai, kyrois – relationship of master-servant; Jesus is Lord vs. Caesar; he is the potter, despotes, sustainer; he is jealous for the praise that only he is due

God is – necessary yet difficult to describe. God is our creator & sustainer. He created everything - Genesis 1:1-3 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2 Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. 3 And God said, "Let there be light," and there was light.

And he holds everything together.

You owe your very life to Him

Nehemiah 9:6 You alone are the LORD. You made the heavens, even the highest heavens, and all their starry host, the earth and all that is on it, the seas and all that is in them. You give life to everything, and the multitudes of heaven worship you.

Without Him, there is no you. Thank you Lord for my life. Appropriate humility.

Creation is yours to enjoy and to see His glory displayed in

Psalm 19:1-2 The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. 2 Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they display knowledge.

The sunset, the mountaintops, the details of animals and plants – his glory is everywhere

We are not the result of random chance, with no purpose

Hebrews 11:3 3 By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God's command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible
