Pop quiz time – see if you can tell me the significance of these people:

Mordecai Ham

Never heard of him? Who has heard of Billy Graham?  Ham was an evangelist in the early 20th century who led a revival meeting in Charlotte, NC, in 1934 where Billy Graham was converted.

Edward Kimball

Ever heard of DL Moody?  Kimball was the Sunday School teacher of DL Moody, and in 1855 was responsible for leading Moody to faith in Christ.

Shari Engman, Karlyn Banda, Stephan Thibodeau

Never heard of them?  I’ll tell you their significance later.

I’m beginning a new series today called the Power of One Life.  Every week I want to look at the life of a minor Biblical character and the impact they had on their generation.  Certainly Billy Graham and DL Moody are great illustrations of the Power of One Life, the effect that one person can have on the world.  But Mordecai Ham and Edward Kimball are just as powerful illustrations, for they were the humans most responsible for bringing Billy Graham and DL Moody to saving faith, for allowing God to use them to play a part in transforming someone’s life, not only now but eternally.
